This enormous turn-of-the-century mansion has been meticulously and lovingly restored and filled with the most luxurious furnishings and fixtures. Every suite is unique (with its own brass nameplate on the door! The Blue Room, The Victorian Suite, etc.) though they each have custom upholstery, carpets and color schemes, as well as plenty of floor space and huge bathrooms. The owner mentioned that the master painters who finished it bring apprentices here to teach them about delicate custom jobs. The huge windows everywhere keep it bright and cheery during the day (every room has blackout floor to ceiling curtains) and the warm lamplight everywhere makes it so cozy at night. It would be pretty ideal for family or corporate groups - the formal dining room has a massive plasma screen, and there is a large glassed-in conservatory / morning room with plenty of seating for meals. Also a fancy game room, full kitchen, a private off-street parking lot, and security cameras in all the public spaces. You will get no end of compliments if you manage to snag it for a group. This is easily a $500 per night luxury hotel.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Aachen House, and it was an absolutely delightful experience. This beautiful, traditional house exudes a charm that is both comforting and inviting. The spaciousness of the rooms provided a sense of freedom and relaxation, further enhanced by the exceptionally comfortable and high-quality bedding. What truly set Aachen House apart, however, were the hosts. They were incredibly welcoming, striking the perfect balance between friendliness and respecting privacy. Whether open to engaging conversations or allowing guests their space, they created a great warm feeling throughout my stay. Another highlight was the location. Situated in a lovely neighborhood, the house is conveniently close to a variety of restaurants, all within easy walking distance. This added an extra layer of convenience to my stay. In summary, Aachen House offers a perfect blend of traditional charm, comfort, and hospitality. It’s a place where one can feel at home away from home. I would gladly stay here again and recommend it to anyone seeking a pleasant and memorable experience.

Location was perfect for a concert at Eden Park as the train station was a very short walk away, then a quick change at Newmarket. House was beautifully restored and exceptionally clean with new white quality towels and bed linen. Our spacious bedroom had an extremely comfortable bed (king size?) and a lovely large bathroom with a bath and separate shower. Ample tea and coffee supplies provided with a fridge and kettle. We didn't need to make use of the kitchen/dining/lounge areas downstairs which are available to guests but they look great, as does the garden. The owner couldn't have been more friendly or helpful and obviously takes great pride in all the work he has done to make this a lovely place to stay. Would love to revisit someday.

This was a spacious warm room with really lovely decor. The bathroom was spacious and totally adequate for our needs. The wi -fi was first class and we were able to book activities in Auckland and check in for flights. The use of the big kitchen and dining facilities was great. Despite there being many rooms it was very quiet. Off street parking was great and it was only a short walk to the train station. All in all this was ideal place to stay whilst visiting Auckland and when we left it was only 30 mins to the airport,

I loved the grandness of the property, it was a special and unique place to stay. The lovely owner welcomed us on arrival and showed us around. We were the only guests that night (a Monday) so we had the whole place to ourselves which was very novel. The bed was really comfortable and the room quiet. The location was perfect, just off the Market Road motorway exit. There were eateries close by, within walking distance. Convenient parking is provided for guests on the property. I would definitely stay here again.
